Friday, 03 December 2010 19:26

In spite of thegoogle_logo long delay Google is still going to start its business on e-books sales under the name Google Editions by the end of the year.

The reason for the delay is in some legal and technical obstacles that were at last removed successfully. The settlement agreement between publishers and authors was achieved and the concept of e-book online store will continue to develop.

In May of this year Google asserted that it would let customers use different devices to acquire books from different websites. It will be available throughout the world in the beginning of 2011. The business rivals of Google will be Amazon.com, Apple and Barnesandnoble.com etc.

The customers will purchase books using their Google accounts. Such service as Google Book Search has long been available already. It let people look at the previews of books from publishers and make a search. The digital copies of the books will be sold at a new service that is going to be launched by Christmas.

The idea behind the service differs a bit from what iBooks offered and Kindle provided their reader with, because the customers first buy the product and only then they will tie it to the account. After this happens they have the possibility to log on via any device and read everything they saved.
