The upgraded version prohibits any third-party software, such as security suites from installing any add-on features without the prior permission of the users. Secondly, when Firefox is restarted after installation of the add-on, the user is prompted to either activate the add-on or ignore the same.

These include the add-ons installed by the user and second category includes the third-party add-ons. The active add-ons installed by users continue to remain active while the third-party add-ons are deactivated unless the user chooses the opposite.
