Comcast cliSkype will come on high definition television screensents will have a possibility to make use of full functionality of Skype via a rented box and HD camera with a remote connecting it to HDTV.

Comcast, a Telecom giant, and Skype made an announcement on the “strategic partnership” of two companies. This will give the possibility to the customers of Comcast cable television to make HD video calls and receive them too.

As the press release says, the fact that Skype will come to big screens of households will let clients share the exciting experience together whether it is “a big game, a birthday party or holiday, a bedtime story, or a casual conversation with loved ones”. Hundreds of millions all over the globe will get the chance to communicate on an advanced level.

Comcast President Neil Smit said that unique relationship of their company with Skype will affect the way users will interact with television. In addition to it people will get the opportunity to be closer to each other and care about each other better. The cooperative work of two companies brings the product to the market that will make the TV experience more personalized.

In comparison with the rest Skype-TV partners, the Comcast agreement doesn’t involve the use of a costly web-enabled television coming with its own microphone and camera. Comcast is going to provide the gizmos for Skype video calls through “an adapter box, a video camera of high quality, and a remote control designed specially to let people make text messages as well and not to control video only.”

Thanks to this move we can observe how television evolves and gets additional function, when it is not a screen only on which we can watch movies. It turns into all-purpose device connected to the World Wide Web. It is planned to make this possibility available for all people. Managers of the companies are sure that they pursue the right strategy having made this decision. There were a lot of companies which would want to produce expensive devices that will not become the common trend anyway so there is no necessity to start this path then. The popular trend will form when people will have access to reasonably priced and easy-to-use equipment.

In accordance with the schedule the trial offers for the service will begin pretty soon, while a full roll-out is planned at the end of the year.
