Now Mozilla is conducting tests of its HTTP header-based feature which is called "do not track" feature. It is going to be included into the latest Firefox 4 Web browser – to its beta release first, to be more particular.
Mozilla released a fresh beta version of the Firefox 4 browser. There was so much discussion about the privacy over the web which seems to be a dream already but still changes are coming. The “do not track” feature is included into the latest of the browser is actually can be referred to as a privacy feature. Nobody is going to track your interests to impose the services upon you online.
As the ‘Do Not Track’ option is integrated into Firefox 4 Beta version, you are provided with the possibility to check a ‘Do Not Track’ box as the advanced screen of the options that are present in the Firefox. This information was published in the blog entry of Mozilla. Once you choose this option, you will be excluded from tracking alongside with all those who want to opt out of tracking.
Mozilla announced about this feature last month, just when Google announced the same plans for such feature included into the Chrome Web browser. Microsoft also wishes to carry out this feature in Internet Explorer 9.
Mozilla’s feature builds on an HTTP header which informs ad companies about the fact that the user wants to avoid tracking. Theoretically, the ad companies will decide if they want to comply with this desire. Time will show if they follow it or not. This resembles the same feature that telemarketers have but there they deal with “do not call” feature.
The Federal Trade Commission supported the users’ rights not to be tracked and have a web privacy option forbidding web ad companies to monitor those who chose to be opted out of tracking.
